Walkthrough Final Fantasy Tactics. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough

Final Fantasy Tactics

FULL PASSAGE.
PART I

Final Fantasy Tactics(FFT), despite being based on the Final Fantasy universe and using many elements of the combat systems of previous games in the series, is nonetheless quite unlike Final Fantasy VII or any other Square game. If 8 ordinary RPG battles are "only" an integral part of the gameplay, then in FFT, in fact, the whole game consists of them. As a result, the role-playing part turns into an auxiliary line, saturating the strategic side of the game to the limit. In this article, I will try to give all the necessary advice regarding the passage of FFT, as well as talk about tactics in all battles (of which there are about 70 in the game). Of course, with all the secret places, items and most detailed description characteristics of hero classes. Let's start with tips.
Before the start of each battle (except the very first one), you can select characters for it on a special screen, in which you can place some of your troops on a small island of land (repeating the upcoming battle scene according to the landscape pattern). As you arrange the heroes before the battle, in the same formation they will be on the pope of the battle. However, much more important is not the placement, but the choice of those team members who will take part in the battle. The maximum number of characters on the attacking flight is five, in some battles only four are allowed, or they can be divided into two battalions, consisting of one, two or three heroes. You can always find out about the number of warriors that can be placed on the map from the ruler located under the portrait of the hero.
To succeed in further battles, always equip your heroes with the most advanced pieces of armor, weapons and other equipment. All the best uniforms can always be found in stores. Money can be spent in other ways - for example, spend it on buying new spells or on promoting heroes in their skill classes. By the way, if you change the skills of the hero, do not forget to check what equipment he wears, as some classes cannot use certain types of weapons and items, which can leave the hero unarmed at the most inopportune moment.
Before the start of the battle, be sure to check if your army has a hero that can effectively heal and revive. You will need at least one such hero, and at first, perhaps even two or three are better.
And, of course, be sure to save the game before and after each battle.
During the battle, you can use weapons or magic. Each of the methods has its positive and negative sides. Some classes of heroes are most effective in combat with weapons, while others require protection in order to freely carry out a wide variety of attacks using magic. To use weapons, you usually need to be in close proximity to the enemy, and magical operations, like shooting with a pistol or bow, can be undertaken from afar. In everything, however, there is some risk, since your hero may miss, hit too weakly, it is also possible that the enemy is immune to certain types of spells or attacks
One of the most significant innovations in the FFT combat system is a special variation of the turn-based mode. Before the hero can attack the enemy, he must wait until he can gain enough strength to perform any action. The time required to “recharge” the character is divided into 100 parts and gradually grows in real time before the start of each of the moves, and the actual turn of the hero is called Active Turn (AT), that is, the time of active actions. During each AT, you will be able to walk and take some action (attack, cast magic, heal heroes, or use some items). If you took only one action for AT or just moved, then the process of regenerating strength up to 100 will start not from zero, but from 20. If you ignored all the commands and simply ordered the hero to wait, then the restoration will start from a parameter of 40.
charge time(ST) - this is the time that the hero needs to generate a spell or perform some action. Weak magic does not require a long time to cast, while complex and highly destructive spells require a long time to prepare. In the process of "maturation" of STs, the rest of the heroes in the order of the "general queue" can act quite calmly. All this adds another dimension to combat tactics. If, for example, an enemy mage starts synthesizing the Fire3 spell, then your heroes will still have enough time to beat the insolent one with weaker and faster moves.
During the application of various kinds of slow magic, it is necessary to check the list of the order of moves of each of the characters so that the enemy does not have time to seize the initiative and cannot resist the spell.
Territory in FFT is also the most important factor that has a significant impact on the course of the battle. In the event that the terrain of the map is flat, there is nothing to worry about, and the range of possible walking of your characters is limited only by the number of cells. In the same case, if the terrain is not flat (which is what, as a rule, occurs), you will also have to take into account the ability of your characters to jump. A hero with Jump level 3 will be able to jump three floors up, from the first to the fourth, but will never be able to jump directly from the first to the fifth - he will have to take a detour. Also, the territory affects the range of archers. Having an obstruction between the archer and his target will not only greatly reduce the force of a hit, but it can also negate the chance of that hit. In addition, there are also a number of spells and attacks that have height restrictions.
Healing your troops is a top priority on the battlefield. If a character dies and his health is not restored for some time, he leaves behind a crystal or chest, after which he disappears for the rest of the game. If dies main character Ramza, then, accordingly, the game ends. You can treat your own with three different ways. The first is Ramza Wish's special skill, which allows you to transfer some of the health from the caster of the spell to the character it is directed at. In this case, a 100% gain is formed, and the one who takes the spell receives twice as much health as the one who synthesized the spell loses. Further, this is the standard Cure magic, which in FFT can simultaneously affect characters who are in the area of the spell, as well as special Potions available to chemists (Chemists).
In the FFT world, each hero enjoys the patronage of one of the 12 signs of the Zodiac, which greatly influence the relationship between different characters, both friendly and enemy. If the hero attacks an enemy with whom he has a good relationship according to the signs of the Zodiac, then the blow will be stronger, the mood will be better. Poor compatibility - and both will fight weakly, worse than usual. You should achieve the highest possible compatibility of the members of your team participating in the battle, this can bring considerable benefits. Compatibility is formed according to the following scheme. The most favorable is the combination of two heroes of opposite zodiac signs (for example, Leo and Aquarius), when the characters belong to different sexes. Frankly unsuccessful combinations are shown in Fig. 2. The worst combinations are obtained when completely opposite characters have the same gender. It's best not to use them together.
Brave and Faith settings also have a big impact on how your characters behave on the battlefield. The first shows the courage of the character and affects the power of his blows and the most complete performance of his functions on the battlefield. Faith also affects the hero's abilities in the magical arts. Each of the two parameters is displayed in the same window with the portrait of the hero and is of great importance. In the event that the Brave indicator is high, the hero can most effectively repel attacks and strike, but if this indicator goes down, the hero becomes fearful and, in the event of a special decrease in the parameter, can run away from the battlefield and even turn into a chicken if the indicator drops up to 10. For each turn in the battle, the hero receives a certain number of points in the treasury of this parameter, and it can be artificially increased using special spells. However, with a slightly reduced Brave indicator, the hero has more opportunities to find all kinds of rare items, so, as usual, there is no unambiguity here. After each battle, the Brave stat is reset and you will start a new battle with a fixed starting stat. The Faith parameter indicates the religiosity of the character, his faith in higher powers and, accordingly, his ability to use magic. When casting defensive spells, a character with a high Faith stat also gains more protection. However, characters with a high Faith score can also take more damage from enemy spells, as they all believe in it a lot.
In some cases, after a perfect negative or positive impact on the hero, his status changes, which may persist throughout the battle or disappear soon, while making a lasting effect on the character all the time of his "application". You can cure or reverse almost any of these conditions, but you need to know how to do it. Here is a small list to make your life easier.
Poison- Slowly reduces health. Can be cured with Antidote, Remedy or spells.
sleep- The character falls asleep and does not respond to commands. Healed by Remedy, using magic or any attack.
Silence- The character cannot use magic. Heals with Echo Grass, Remedy or magic.
Darkness- The percentage of successful hits is decreasing. Treated with Eye Drop, Remedy or magic.
Confusion- Makes the character move and act randomly, use magic and attack friends and foes. It is treated with Remedy, magic or physical influence.
Charm- The hero attacks his own. It is treated with physical influence.
Berserk - The character attacks the hero closest to him and does not respond to control. Heals with magic.
Death Sentence- The character dies within three turns. Not treated.
Don't Move- The character cannot move (but can act). Heals with magic.
Don't Act- The character cannot take any action (can only move). Heals with magic.
Petrify- The hero turns to stone. Treated with Soft, Remedy or magic. In the event that all of your units are turned to stone, the game ends.
oil- The hero is doused with oil, which makes him very sensitive to fire attacks. Healed by Remedy or fire attack (hunchbacked grave will fix).
Toad- Only one class of Toad Black Magic can be used. Treated by Maiden's Kiss, Remedy or magic.
Chicken- The character turns into a chicken and cannot participate in the battle. Heals with magic. If the curse is not removed at the end of the battle, then there is a high probability that the hero will leave your team. Undead - The hero is injured by attempting to use items or magic that restore health. Heals Holy Water.
Cannot Fight- Health is 0. Healed by Phoenix Down or magic. May cause death.
Since FFT does not pay almost any attention to any aspect of RPG, except for battles, all other necessary moments are presented schematically in the game. On the world map, you can choose your destination, highlighted by one of the three lights. Red indicates a place where a new mission or additional information is available, green indicates places where you have already visited, but can still participate in a random battle. Blue indicates places where you can find bars, shops, soldiers' barracks and shops with magical supplies.

>>> Character classes.

Despite the fact that classes were available in all previous games in the Final Fantasy series and not only in them, nevertheless, in FFT this aspect of the gameplay rose to unattainable heights, allowing each of the team members to try their hand at any of the 20 classes, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. In addition to this, more than 400 different types of skills allow you to push the horizons of classes to a significant width.
The development of classes is based on two main paths along which the ladder goes from the simplest to the most complex professions. Squire serves as the starting point for a warrior, and there are many great professions along the way: Knight, Samurai, Monk, and Ninja. The Chemist class opens up possibilities for developing magical abilities. More powerful classes become available as you move through a highly complex hierarchy of levels. For example, when a character reaches the second level in the Knight class, the Monk class becomes available to him. He can switch to this class and continue training until the next opportunity opens (at level 3 this is Geomancer). More powerful classes become available only if the hero has gained experience not only in one class, but in several. For example, the Calculator class appears at your disposal only if the hero has reached the fourth level in the Priest and Wizard classes and the third in the Time Mage and Oracle classes. However, this is quite logical, since the Calculator uses all the skills of the classes that preceded it.
There are several ways in which you can direct the development of heroes, but none of them can be called unambiguously more profitable, rather, it depends on the taste and temperament of each player. You can immediately move from one class to another, following only the minimum requirements, or you can move to the next class after you have thoroughly practiced in the previous one. In the second case, there is a high chance that in the next class you will be more successful and get more money and experience. At the same time, you will also lose some precious time until access to new skills is opened, so take your pick. Some characters may need to be assigned a bar that is quite sufficient for them to perform their immediate duties in battle. Why, say, the team doctor needs abilities in black magic?
The choice of the gender of the character is also important, since female heroes initially have stronger magical abilities and have more magic, while men have stronger weapon attacks and more health. A standard move suggests itself, when women follow the magical path, and men follow the fighting one. However, according to Square's strange principle applied in FFT, this can also impose serious restrictions on the development of game action. In particular, this path can leave you without some professions that are characterized by gender restrictions, such as the Bard and Dancer professions. The only way to get these well-hidden professions is to train some women as fighters and men as mages.

First level.

The two base classes that make up the first level are not very powerful, but are the basis for the further prosperity of your heroes.

Requirements: No.
Weapon: Knife, Sword, Axe, Hammer. Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear. Strengths Well balanced character, abilities designed for entry level combat.
Flaws: The class is too vulnerable to attacks as it is not very strong. Needs the protection of stronger heroes.

Chemist.

Requirements: No.
Weapon: Knife, Gun. Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: Healing potions are faster and more reliable than Priest's Cure magic. The set of features is very useful throughout the first fights.
Flaws: Low strength and health makes these characters go into hiding
under the protection of stronger fighters, while the enemies just make them the main target. Weapon power is too low until pistols are available.

Second level.

The second level becomes available very quickly. It features standard specialties that can be found in almost any role-playing game.

Requirements: Squire Level 2.
Weapon: Sword, Knight Sword, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet.
Armor: Armor, Robe.
Advantages: High physical characteristics, the ability to use magic, the skills of this class allow you to use both melee and ranged weapons.
Flaws: The skill set is too primitive and only applies to weapon stats.

Requirements: Squire Level 2. Weapon. Bow, Crossbow, Shield.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: The first class that can attack from a long distance, allows you to shoot from behind walls, taking advantage of obstacles that are insurmountable for the heroes. Disadvantages: The Charge skill is almost ineffective, and the class itself becomes completely useless with the opportunity to move to the next.

Requirements: Chemist Level 2.
Weapon: Staff.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: White magic makes available a set of very useful spells - healing and protective.
Flaws: Low health and strength parameters, insufficient number of combat spells. Small spell range.

wizard.
Requirements: Chemist Level 2.
Weapon: Rod.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: A strong mage class that precedes Summoner "y. Powerful abilities in Black Magic are very
valuable for any class of heroes.
Flaws: Poor health makes the hero vulnerable to enemy attacks, which, however, can be partially resolved with the help of the Equip Armor skill.

Third level.

Classes of the third level have at their disposal a significantly larger number of various functions and special moves, and are also somewhat stronger physically and magically.

Requirements: Knight Level 2.
Weapon: No.
Helmet: No.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: A large number of skills - from defensive to excellent attack techniques - allows you to use Monk "a in a wide range of tasks. The character is quite easy to develop, there are great opportunities for growth.
Flaws: The impossibility of using weapons and at least some quality armor is reflected in the defense and the amount of health, but there is Equip Armor. Low levels of offensive magic power.

Requirements: Archer Lever 2.
Weapon: Knife.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: Ample opportunities to seize items from enemies make the character of this profession indispensable.
Flaws: The character is rather weak, besides, in order to use his wonderful qualities, he must be close to the victim, and even preferably at the same height.

Oracle.
Requirements: Priest Level 2.
Weapon: Stick, Rod, Staff, Dictionary.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: Characters of this class can cast many spells that negatively affect the opponent's status.
Oddly enough, this magic class also shows relatively good success in combat without magic.
Flaws: Other than Don "t Move and Don" t Act, "status" magic doesn't seem too useful.

Time Mag.

Requirements: Wizard Level 2.
Weapon: Staff
Helmet: Hat
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: Useful magic Haste, Don "t Move and Stop, the ability to teleport. A large number of auxiliary spells.
Flaws: Few fast and effective defensive spells, poor health.

Fourth level.

Geomancer

.
Requirements: Monk Level 3.
Weapon: Sword, Axe, Shield.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: Access to powerful weapons, excellent offensive spells that can deal significant damage.
Flaws: The effectiveness of many spells depends on the type of terrain, which makes using a wide range of magic too expensive.

Requirements: Thief Level 2.
Weapon: Spear, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet.
Armor: Armor, Robe.
Advantages: The ability to use heavy armor and "medium-range" Spear weapons makes this class a good alternative to Knight "aM. Jumping attacks deal heavy damage if used in time.
Flaws: When performing such attacks, the player has no knowledge of how long it may take to execute the technique.

mediator.

Requirements: Oracle Level 2.
Weapon: Gun, Knife.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: The only class capable of converting monsters to their side. The use of a pistol makes the heroes of this profession good fighters at long distances.
Flaws: Talk Skill is too weak and does not induce use in battle.

Summoner.

Requirements: Time Mage Level 2.
Weapon: Rod, Staff.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: One of the most powerful magic in the game. Summon spells inflict severe damage on the enemy with a large radius of destruction.
Flaws: Spells are synthesized for a very long time and are quite expensive, while the magician is very weak.

>>> Combination classes:

Samurai.

Requirements: Knight Level 3, Monk Level 4, Lancer Level 2.
Weapon: Katana.
Helmet: Helmet.
Armor: Armor, Robe.
Advantages: Excellent front line fighter, a large number of skills, good for attacking, spells are effective and have a large radius of destruction.
Flaws: The need for an unusual and very expensive weapon (Sega samurai swords) will cost you a pretty penny.

Requirements: Archer Level 3, Thief Level 4, Geomancer Level 2. Weapon: Knife, Ninja Sword, Hammer.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: High movement speed, attacks with double strength, the ability to use two swords at the same time. Excellent ability to throw all sorts of weapons and magic at opponents.
Flaws: Low health indicators.

calculator.

Requirements: Priest Level 4, Wizard Level 4, Time Mage Level 3, Oracle Level 3.
Weapon: Stick, Dictionary.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Advantages: Calculated spells cast into light immediately, without loss of mana, and can affect a large number of units.

Flaws: Slow and weak, computational magic sees no difference between friendly and foe, so it hits both. The character is very difficult, long and expensive to develop.

Requirements: Female Hero, Geomancer Level 4, Lancer Level 4.
Weapon: Knife, Cloth.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: Fun looking spells that affect all enemy units on the map.
Flaws: Low health causes the hero to watch the battle from afar.

Requirements: Male Hero, Summoner Level 4, Mediator Level 4.
Weapon: Musical instrument.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
Advantages: Spells affect all enemies. Great skill Move+3.
Flaws: Low health, the need to be away from the place of active hostilities.

Mime (Mimic).

Requirements: Squire Level 8, Chemist Level 8, Geomancer Level 4, Lancer Level 4, Mediator Level 4, Summoner Level 4.
Weapon: No.
Helmet: No.
Armor: No.
The Mime character is a kind of reward, the crowning achievement of training the hero in all the most important classes. This character cannot use magic, does not carry weapons or armor, and does not have any skills or abilities. This is a carbon copy man who completely repeats all the actions of your heroes. If the hero hit the one in front with an ax, then Mime will have an ax, and he will definitely attack the one in front in the same way (it can be his own!). If someone uses a spell, then Mime will definitely fish it out and use it in exactly the same way. Characters of this class require a special approach, I would say, creative. If you place the hero correctly and think over the course of the battle well, then Mime can become extremely useful, it will be the most important unit. If you fail to successfully use the capabilities of the hero, then more likely from him there will be more harm than good.

>>> Special classes.

Some characters, especially those that are critical to the storyline, do not follow the standard rules of division into classes and development within them and always remain only within their own class. Often these heroes have a completely unique set of abilities, so we will try to briefly talk about them.

Squire Raima

Weapon: Knife, Sword, Knight Sword, Hammer, Shield.
Helmet: Hat, Helmet.
Armor: Regular wear. armor.
Ramza- main character
the story told in FFT, and of course the creators of the game provided him with enough special abilities to expand his initial class abilities, limited
Squire. He is capable of using a variety of weapons and armor, which gives him the undeniable advantage of choosing between heavy armor bonuses and light armor speed. From the beginning to the last battles, Ramza is one of the most useful warriors.

Holy Knight Agrias

Weapon: Sword, Knight Sword, Bag, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet, Ribbon.
Armor: Armor, Robe.
Agrias joins your team first as a guest and then as a full member. This is one of the more powerful characters you'll have at your disposal throughout the second and third parts of the game, so it's worth taking better care of her. She has good health and her Holy Sword attacks are some of the most powerful of all your heroes. Not only do these attacks deal significant damage, but they can also add a negative status effect to the opponent (Stop, Silence, and even Death Sentence). It may well be useful to equip the heroine with the Equip Sword skill, which will further strengthen her.

Engineer Mustadio

Weapon: Gun.
Helmet: Hat.
Armor: Regular wear.
At first sight Mustadio may seem like a weakling, but his skills in the Snipe area can completely deprive the enemy
mobility. At the same time, the effect does not affect the choice of weapons, only decreasing or slightly increasing. In the case of using a pistol, Mustadio turns into a skilled Chemist "a.

Heaven & Hell Knights Rata & Malak.

Weapon: Staff, Stick, Bag (Rafa only).
Helmet: Hat, Ribbon (Rafa only).
Armor: Regular wear, Robe.
Being representatives of an extinct race, Rafa and Malak are quite unusual. The effects of the magic of Hell and Paradise are unusually polar, but very effective. On a successful hit, they are capable of setting off a small fireworks display of as many as six directed additional strikes, causing considerable damage to the enemy. As fighters they are rather weak.

Divine Knight Meliadoul.

Weapon: Sword, Knight Sword, Crossbow, Spear, Bag, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet.
Armor: Regular wear. Robe, Armour.
Although you will first encounter her as an opponent on the battlefield (to the full extent of her strength), later she will join your team. Her Mighty Sword skills require a sword and are capable of destroying a piece of an opponent's equipment, armor, helmet, or weapon along with a reduction in health. Unfortunately, while extremely effective against human enemies who have equipment, the remarkable skill is powerless against monsters. Hellcry Punch, which destroys weapons, is especially good.

Holy Swordsman Orlandu a.k.a. T. G. Cid.

Weapon: Ninja Sword, Sword, Knight Sword, Katana, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet, Hat.
Armor: Regular wear, Robe, Armor.
One of the best and most experienced fighters in the game, Orlandu, God of Thunder, comes to you already well equipped with one of the rarest and most powerful swords, which is best left to him. Orlandu has the ability for all sorts of spells and additional attributes of sword magic. Among his skills are all the most powerful moves, including Holy, Dark, Stasis and Mighty Sword. It is also capable of destroying enemy armor and weapons, and has an AT regeneration bonus that increases with each passing round of combat. Definitely one of the best characters.

Temple Knight Beowolf.

Weapon: Knife, Sword, Knight Sword, Shield.
Helmet: Helmet.
Armor: Armor, Robe.
You can meet this hero if you start searching for Cloud "a (a hidden hero from Final Fantasy VII) in Goland Coul City. He is almost as powerful as Orlandu, and perfectly complements the attacking brigades. He is able to perfectly neutralize opponents, adding all kinds of "bonuses" to them » Status: Particularly useful in Deep Dungeon battles, where its sleep abilities give heroes time to hunt for treasure and other trinkets.

Holy Dragon Reis.

Reis joins your company at the end of the battles in Goland Coal City, and it turns out that he and Beowolf "oM are good friends (as usual, everyone in the Final Fantasy world knows each other). Quite a powerful character, he will definitely come in handy, in- firstly, because all the rivers are knee-deep to him, and secondly, because he attacks quite well (there are three types of exhaust fire to choose from) Unfortunately, it is completely impossible to train a dragon, since he is already at the peak of his abilities and desires .

Steel Giant Worker 8

This hardworking robot attacks opponents with his mechanical things, which, however, make him lose a certain amount of health each time. He is also untrainable and on top of that he is forever amazed by Innocent's status.

Dragoner Reis.

After a few adventures, Reis will rejoin your team, this time as a Dragoner with a few more attacks, bonuses, and other goodies. Great strong character.

Soldier Cloud.

The hidden hero from Final Fantasy VII, Cloud Strife, is a small gift to all fans of this game and allows you to fully enjoy this great hero. All of its features and capabilities were included in FFT, only slightly modified. Limits have now become special abilities, and the cloth sword has become an exotic type of weapon. The problem is that you will have to grow Cloud "a from the very beginning, from the first level, while the rest of the heroes should already be approaching the figure of 50-60 by this time, so it's not an easy task. More like a bonus than a real full character, Cloud is for fans only.
Now let's go through the first few missions of the game.

>>> Part One: The Meager.

Taking place a year before the events of the prologue, the storyline reveals the story of Ramza and Delita's friendship.

Prologue: Orbonne Monastery.

Requirements
Enemies: Lezales (Knight), 3 Archers, Chemist.
In this battle, you can only control the actions of the main character, in general, the mission can be considered more of a training mission that introduces you to the battle system in FFT. Here you can safely experiment without fear of dying. If you are accidentally killed, then Ramza will simply lose consciousness and will not be able to take part in the battle - that's all.

First mission: Defending Games Castle.
Battle 2: Magic City Gariland.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: 4 Squires, Chemist.
Experience Level: 1.
Among the opponents, we present a special danger to Squire, leading his small crowd of warriors forward, and Chemist. They must be destroyed first. The leader has a Broad Sword, which causes significant damage. The Chemist can heal and sometimes restore the life of his fellow tribesmen. It is important that none of the heroes die in this battle, so it is better to move a little slower. Be sure to take Chemist "a and keep it nearby. Delita will join you in this battle, but you will not be allowed to fight for the hero. If Delita falls on the battlefield, the character will be inaccessible until the next battle.
After the battle, Gariland will be a very good place to buy weapons and hire soldiers. If one of the heroes manages to rise to the second class, do not rush to switch them - wait until Igros "a, where you can buy weapons and armor for new classes.

Battle 3: Mandalia Plains.

Requirements: the destruction of all opponents or the rescue of Algus "a (depending on your previous actions).
Enemies: 4 Squires, Thief, Red Panther.
Experience Level: 2.
Items: X0 Y0 - Dagger of Potion, X4 Y4 - Broad Sword or HiPotion, X4 Y12 - Rod or Antidote, X8 Y6 - Oak Staff or Eye Drop. (In order to find items, a character with the Chemist Move-Find skill must end his turn at the indicated coordinates. Depending on luck, he receives or does not receive items. From this point on, the place becomes a trap.)
If you choose the second option before the battle, then your team will receive additional Brave points, and after completing Algus, he will join the team as a guest.
Thief is especially dangerous, equipped with the Steal Hearts skill, which forces the character to fight against his own. Red Panther's Poison Nail attack poisons the character and reduces their health until the poison wears off or the Antidote is applied. Algus "a can be treated a little Potion" aMH. It is better to split the team, and while some will save Algus "a, others will take care of the monsters. In the battle, it is better not to run forward, but to wait a bit, finding a good position until the enemies themselves approach you.
Be sure to force the heroes to do at least something at the end of the battle, even if they are not in position to attack, as this will help you develop the necessary skills faster, get more experience and money.
After the battle is over, the location will become available for random battles. The monsters you can encounter are: Goblins, Wizards, Archers, Chocobos, Knights, Squires, Panthers, Oracles, Morbols, Thieves.

Mission two: Saving Maquis Elmdor.
Battle 4: Sweegy Woods.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Monsters: 2 Goblins, 2 Black Goblins, 2 Bomb, Red Panther.
Experience Level: 2.
Items: X0 Y1 - Bow Gun or Echo Grass, X1 Y9 - Escutcheon or Phoenix Down, X5 Y11 - Leather Helmet or Potion, X6 Y6 - Leather Hat or HiPotion.
In the battle, the first non-humans appear. Dangerous bombs and black goblins, or rather their additional features. A bomb, when nearly dead, can choose to self-destruct, severely injuring everyone around and dousing them with oil. V Black Goblin Turn Punch can hit everyone around. It is worth immediately with the whole group to fall on the first closest part of the monsters, which will give you the opportunity to deal with them before the remaining enemies run up.
After the battle is over, random battles can take place here. Monsters: Bombs, Archers, Skeletons, Knights, Monks, Woodmen, Wizards.
After the battle, you should make sure that all your heroes have reached at least the third level and can practice white or black magic. Algus "a and Delit" y must be taught black magic and the capabilities of Charge.

Battle 5: Slums of Dorter.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: Knight, 3 Archers, 2 Wizards.
Experience Level: 3.
Items: XO Y11 - Leather Armor or Antidote, X4 Y3 - Clothes or Eye Drop, X6 Y14 - Mythril Knife or Echo Grass, X7 Y1 - Long Sword or Phoeniz Down.
This is the first battle in which there are archers among the enemies, and it is quite difficult to deal with them. Two of them have bows that increase their range, and the top one has a Long Bow - the most dangerous weapon for you at the moment. Algus and Delita should take the lead, but it will take them at least two moves to get to the top. At Wizard "oB, the Fire spell affects up to five squares at a time, so you should strive to put your characters next to the enemy so that he also gets it, since trouble cannot be prevented. The main task is to destroy the main knight and the magician standing next to him. If in your the team has Priest, try to protect the weakest team members with the Protect spell.

Battle 6: Cellar of the Sand Mouse.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: 3 Knights, 2 Monks, Archer.
Experience Level: 4.
Items: X5 Y4 - Bronze Helmet or Potion, X6 Y2 - Feather Hat or HiPotion, X10 YO - Linen Cuirass or Antidote, X10 Y9 - Leather Outfit or Eye Drop.
The most important enemies are an archer with a Long Bow, as well as Monki "and - although unarmed, but with strong fists. There are only two exits in the building, so you can easily regulate the pressure of monsters, going in and out, while hitting enemies with black magic, preferably several people gathered at the entrance at once. It is imperative to stock up on Potions and Phoenix Downs, not forgetting to equip the heroes with the appropriate skills, along with the Item-skill. Monks will have to be treated very thoroughly.
After the battle, the field becomes the site of random battles. Monsters: Bombs, Ninjas, Skeletons, Behemoths, Juravis", Goblins, Red Chocobos.

Mission three.

Battle 7: Thieves Fort.

Requirements: Defeat Milunda.
Enemies: Knight, 2 Priests, 3 Thieves.
Experience Level: 6.
Items: X1 Y10 - Flame Rod or Antidote, X2 Y10 - Ice Rod or Eye Drop, X5 Y9 - White Staff or Echo Grass, X9 Y0 - Long Bow or Phoenix Down.
In battle, you should be especially wary of thieves who can force your heroes to fight on the side of strangers. At the very beginning of the battle, use a few Fire or Bolt spells directly into the crowd of enemies - this should seriously cripple them. Despite the goals of the battle, your task will still be the almost complete destruction of all enemies, otherwise Milund "y will not be killed. She uses attacks such as Weapon Break or Head Breake, which break weapons and armor, making the heroes helpless. Using the Chemist" a Maintenance skill should reduce the opponent's chances of winning. After this battle, Algus will leave your squad.

Battle 8: Lenalia Plateau.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: 3 Knights, 2 Wizards, Time Mage.
Experience Level: 6.
Items: X2 Y8 - Buckler or Potion, X4 Y4 - Iron Helmet or HiPotion, X5 Y10 - Red Hood or Antidote, X10 Y6 - Bronze Armor or Eye Drop.
In this battle, you will meet Time Mage. This mage can manipulate time and is able to cast spells that can slow or stop your actions. And to speed up the actions of the enemy. More annoying than dangerous. Time Mages is still preferable to clean up as soon as possible.
While the enemies are moving towards you through the passage, they are very well grouped, which is very attractive for using Fire, Bolt or Ice magic. Keep Priest "a away from the line of action and use his ability to heal the victims. If you managed to significantly reduce the health of Time Mage and Wizard" oB, then you can send two characters to finish them off, and the rest to take care of the Knights. Otherwise, it's better to retreat on a hill near the water and gouge the mages from there.
After the battle, the area will become the object of random battles. Enemies: Goblins, Morbols, Geomancers, Chocobos, Dragons, Time Mages, Panthers, Priests, Knights, Pisco Demons.

Battle 9: Windmill Shed.

Requirements: Defeat Wiegraf.
Enemies: Wiegraf (White Knight), 2 Monks, Yellow Chocobo, Knight. Experience Level: 8.
Items: XO Y9 - Leather Vest or Echo Grass, X3 Y4 - Linen Robe or Phoenix Down, X5 Y8 - Small mantle or Potion, X6 YO - Mage Masher or HiPotion.
One of the most difficult battles, requiring a high level of experience (it is better to get it in random battles before entering this mess). It is desirable to train at least to the seventh level. Wiegraf "a Holy Sword attack can kill a character with one hit, and Monk's blows are also very strong. In addition, the chicken can heal himself and those around him. Here it is necessary to act very harmoniously, leaning in a heap on each of the enemies. Start with a chicken that is more inclined not to attack, but to heal itself, and then with a large team you can easily deal with it. It would be nice to use Steal Hearts (if possible) on Monk "ax, which can give you a great numerical advantage (you must have a percentage of luck in the spell of at least 50). Remember that a character zombified in this way will wake up at the first attack, your or enemy - so keep an eye on the list of moves (did you manage to throw something at a friend). Then the archers can get down to business, especially if they know the words Charge + 4 or Charge + 5. So they can endure Wiegraf "a move for two.
After the battle, the field turns into an arena of random battles. Enemies: Flotiballs, Goblins, Summoners, Pisco Demons, Oracles, Bull Demons, Juravis", Morbols, Monks, Panthers.

Battle 10: Fort Zeakden.

Requirements: piss off Algus "a.
Enemies: Algus (Knight), 3 Knights, 2 Wizards.
Experience Level: 9.
Items: X3 Y3 - Bronze Shield or Potion, X2 Y10 - Chain Mail or HiPotion, X4 Y7 - Chain Vest or Antidote, X8 Y12 - Silk Robe or Eye Drop.
In this battle, the first part of the game ends, and the first betrayal is shown - the first of many in FFT. Algus, the traitor, kills Delit's sister Teta (Well, how are they, haven't they got confused with the names yet? Whether there will be more ...). going to retaliate-.(Wow! Land of intrigue, I swear!)
In this battle, your team is again divided into two battalions. Before the battle, it is important to arrange the troops so that they can attack immediately, from the first AT. Night Killer Algus a periodically randomly causes Darkness and eats away health. He will surely fall on Delit "y and blind him, preventing him from hitting himself accordingly. Mages will cast all sorts of spells, and focusing not on the place where the heroes stand, but directly on them. Accordingly, it will not hurt you to stand closer to the enemies. You should concentrate attacks on Algus "e, and even despite the fact that, most likely, this may cost a couple of team members a health column, you, in principle, should have time to score it before the comrades can go to another world.

>>> Part two:
The Manipulator and the Subservient.

The second part of the game starts right where the prologue ends. Ramza agrees to help Agrias, the bodyguard of the kidnapped Princess Ovelia, find her. It all ends with the revelation of a small conspiracy. In this part of the game, the first pieces of the zodiac story are revealed.

Mission one: Rescuing the Princess.

Battle 11: Dorter Trade City.
Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: 2 Thieves, 2 Archers, 2 Wizards.
Experience Level: 10.
Items: X0 Y1 - Ice Bow or Potion, X2 Y6 - Shuriken or HiPotion, X8 Y4 - Round Shield or Ether, X8 Y10 - Barbuta or Echo Grass.
Before the battle, Gafgarion and Agrias will join your team as guests, as well as their entire army as full members. These companions will make your task much easier. Gafgarion with his powerful Night Sword and Agrais with Holy Sword will easily knock down half of the enemies. Your task is to destroy those whom those two did not notice and decided to leave to you. First of all, get rid of Wizard "oe. The rest (compared to previous missions) will seem like weaklings.

Battle 12: Araguay Woods

Requirements: Destroy all opponents or save the chicken.
Enemies: Black Goblin, S Goblins.
Experience Level: 11.
Items: X3 Y5 - Headgear or Soft, X4 Y2 - Mythril Armor or Phoenix Down, X8 Y5 - Mythril Vest or Potion, X11 Y9 - Spike Shoes or HiPotion.
An uncommonly simple mission gives you the choice to help or not help the chicken. The first choice will reduce Brave Points by 10 for all characters for the duration of the battle. In addition, the help of the chicken in the future will be useful (and he will join you if the outcome is positive). During the battle, he usually prefers to sit in the corner of the map, occasionally helping you with rare attacks. It's hard not to win here. There are few opponents, and they, with the exception of the black goblin, are rather weak. Goblins in this area are more afraid of ice attacks, so killing them with Ice and Ice2 is no problem.
After the end of the battle, the battlefield turns into an arena of random battles.
Monsters: Goblins, Skeletons, Panthers, Ghouls, Woodmen, Archers, Ninjas.

Battle 13: Zirekile Falls.

Requirements: Save Princess Ovelia.
Enemies: Dark Knight (Gafgarion), 5 Knights.
Experience Level: 13.
Items: X1 Y6 - Leather Mantle or Ether, X5 Y7 - Platina Dagger or Echo Grass, X7 Y5 - Coral Sword or Soft, X8 Y5 - Poison Rod or Phoenix Down.
The map is cut by a waterfall, but a flimsy bridge is by no means the only means of crossing. You can also walk on the water below, but the speed of movement is limited, and some places are too deep. To begin with, the princess affects herself with MBarrier "OM, which will give her Haste, Shell, Protect, Regen and Refraise at the same time. However, this does not mean that the princess cannot be killed. The most important thing in this mission is to prevent enemies from getting close to her and destroying her. Surprise becomes a brazen betrayal of Gafgarion "a, the full power of the Blood Sword" a of which you now have to test. The best tactic in this battle is to dig in on one side of the bridge and concentrate forces on the main enemy. Gafgarion "a must be attacked all together, otherwise it will just- will simply have time to restore health, in the future the battle is not difficult. Knights can be easily removed, and Delita's skills will especially help with this.
After the end of the battle, the map turns into an area for random duels. Monsters: Chocobos, Pisco Demons, Skeletons, Flotiballs, Guars, Bull Demons, Knights, Wizards, Time Mages.

Mission two: The Hunt for Sanctuary.

Battle 14: Zaland Fort City.
Requirements: Destroy all opponents or save Mustadio. Enemies: 2 Knights, 2 Archers, 2 Wizards.
Experience Level: 14.
Items: X0 Y2 - Rainbow Staff or Potion, XO Y9 - Cypress Rod or HiPotion, X4 Y12 - Mythril Shield or Ether, X7 Y6 - Mythril Helmet or Echo Grass.
If you choose not to save Mustadio, this will increase Brave Points by 5, although this is slightly counterintuitive. Wizard "oa this time has a lot of fire magic in stock, and they will not fail to use it if their comrades are not turned off early from the course of the battle. Everything would be fine if it were not for the archers, who impudently cover most of the territory with arrows. Mustadio s very aggressive from the start and won't last long if you don't hit him with Shell or Protect or both at the same time. After that, your soldiers can calmly complete the work they have begun, first of all, finishing with the magicians. After the battle, Mustadio will join your team as a guest.

Battle 15: Bariaus Hill.

Requirements: Destroy all opponents.
Enemies: 2 Knighs, 2 Summoners, 2 Archers.
Experience Level: 15.
Items: X3 Y6 - Triangle Hat or Soft, X8 Y0 - Plate Mail or Phoenix Down, X11 Y6 - Adaman Vest or Potion, X13 Y2 - Power Wrist or HiPotion.
Try to get close to Summoner "aM and archers as quickly as possible, otherwise they will start pouring waves of attacks of arrows and elementals on you. The most powerful spells Sheeva and Ifrit (they were not weak in FF7 either) have a large range and can affect your entire team, killing almost not half of the fighters. As in the previous battle, Agrais and Mustadio can be very useful in battle. Try to deal with the Summoners as quickly as possible, approaching them from the side farthest from the archers. A few spectacular actions aimed at changing the status of enemies will not hurt either. It doesn't hurt to slow them down a bit.
After the battle, the battlefield turns into a place of random battles. Monsters: Chocobos, Bull Demons, Bombs, Archers, Summoners, Thieves, Monks, Wizards, Time Mages.
This battle ends the second mission of the second part, and here our story is interrupted for a month. We think that all the tips will be useful, and you will be able to get the most out of this complex, unusual and very interesting game. You will be able to get acquainted with the remaining missions in a month on the pages of our magazine. And let the zodiac stones help you in battle!

Final Fantasy Tactics

Plot: 10
Graphic arts: 8
Gameplay: 8
Sound: 7
Originality: 7
Grand total: 40
Complexity: High
Main perspective: isometry
Combat perspective: isometry
Fight type: Tactical
World: Fantasy
Genre: Tactical RPG

Nearly every review of Final Fantasy Tactics I know of started with a thought about why the characters don't have noses. Or these arguments somehow slipped through the text. But in my review you will not hear anything about noses! For in Final Fantasy Tactics there are things worth discussing much more than this anatomical feature of local characters.

Few appreciate the plot of Final Fantasy Tactics, apparently because without good knowledge in English it is difficult to understand its vicissitudes. Personally, I really liked it, much more than, say, Final Fantasy VIII or IX. This is not only a story of endless intrigues and betrayals, which are not measured in the game. It is also a very bold and frankly radical point of view on religion. I think if some prominent Christian patriarch played this game, he would anathematize it - some images are too recognizable, and not presented in the best light (I will refrain from commenting, dearer to me). There is no love story so often repeated in other Final Fantasy, but there is a story about friendship, which, however, had to go through many trials. The heroes of the game are very complex personalities (Dostoevsky is resting). In general, if you want to hear my opinion: everything is very gloomy and sad, but at the same time very exciting. The main character, the young aristocrat Ramza, who is also a bastard to the heap, leaves his family and refuses his surname after learning what bad things his brothers are doing. At the beginning of the game, he is a naive and gullible young man, but he becomes tougher and gloomier, losing people dear to him one by one. His friend and enemy at the same time Delita is even more amazing. It is almost impossible to decide whether he is a negative character or a positive one, even after going through the game to the end. I must say thanks to the developers - all plot inserts are outlined, and if you misunderstood something, you can read about it later. You can also find out everything about each of the many heroes and villains - there is a separate option for this.

I don't want to talk too much about graphics. Three-dimensional backgrounds, hand-drawn sprites... Everything is as usual, there are no special complaints. You could even say it's beautiful. The camera control is somewhat limited, but yes, you can deal with it. Yes, and there is no schedule of great importance! Final Fantasy Tactics is, as the name suggests, a tactical RPG. This is a special thing, forget about running blue stripes, three or four characters in a team and a “flat” battle when the hero and the enemy look into each other's faces. Final Fantasy Tactics is absolutely true to the traditions of all tactical RPGs, but at the same time it is completely individual and unique.

What distinguishes Final Fantasy Tactics from other representatives of this genre? First of all, this system of works (Jobs). This has never happened before in any tactical RPG, but, however, it has already happened twice in the Final Fantasy series itself - in the 3rd and 5th parts. Any character (except Chocobo chickens) can become either a mage, or a knight, or who knows who else, and then easily change occupations! Lots of work. A lot. According to my calculations - 18, but I do not rule out that there are secret ones. In the beginning, you will have mostly mercenaries, so it is very important to correctly determine the work for your fighters. The level of faith (Faith) and courage (Brave) are very important. I think it's easy to understand that characters with a high faith score should be promoted through the mage line, and brave ones should be made into warriors. Also, do not forget about the gender of the characters. In addition to the fact that, as a rule, male characters are stronger, and female ones are faster, there are works that are inherent only to a certain gender (bards are only boys, dancers are only girls). Of course, at the beginning there are not so many of them, but over time more and more will be opened, and it will not be so easy to get them. The main problem is that getting any job requires a certain number of levels of some other job, and usually more than one. Case in point, if you want to make a character a Summoner, you need two levels of Time Mage. And to become a Time Mage you need two Wizard levels. And of course, to become a Sorcerer you will have to work out two levels of Chemist (Chemist). However, everything is not as difficult as it might seem. In addition, there are special jobs that are unique to characters who join you in the story. Of course, if it were my will, I would have all the Holy Swordsmen like Orlandu, but this, alas, is impossible.

The main thing in Final Fantasy Tactics is combat! Between fights, interactivity is limited to shopping in the store. The course of battles is quite standard, as in any other game of this genre. Remember how important the landscape and terrain on which you are fighting is, it can be used to your advantage, but sometimes it becomes a real enemy. Also, don't forget about poisonous swamps and rivers. You can get four types of gain for winning a battle. With money, everything is simple - they are issued to the entire party after the battle. But such things as Experience points and Job points are given only to the character who, in fact, deserved them. And if XP is familiar and understandable to everyone, then we will dwell on JP in more detail. As the name implies, they allow you to pump work. More precisely, only the work that the character is currently using. Plus, it is for these points that you will have to learn skills - spells, skills, everything for which, in fact, you take these works. You can expand a separate article about skills, but so be it, I will overcome myself and will not linger on them. Having learned everything that is possible, the character becomes a “Master” in this work, receiving a large gold star. The last thing the heroes can get is battle trophies, usually weapons, equipment items, and healing flasks. There is an interesting point here - the dead enemy will simply lie unconscious for three turns (unless, of course, you suddenly take it into your head to revive him), and then dies completely, leaving in its place either a treasure chest or a crystal that allows you to restore MP and HP one character. Oh yes, the undead can still just come to life! Unfortunately, this does not apply to your characters - the dead hero, if he is not raised to his feet with a bottle or spell within three moves, will die completely and irrevocably, and if it is the main character, then the game simply ends.

Of course, you can understand the players who are not very willing to change their fighters to work for some kind of suck, like the Time Mage. But there is always the need for several levels of unloved work in order to open the way to something more meaningful. There are ways to bypass this unpleasant duty. Firstly, if you already have a representative of the job in which you need to promote others, and he is already at the “Master” level in his business, then the JP received by him will go to the account of other characters, even if they have never been to such work. Another way - change the character's job to the one you need and give this fighter for hire! In every city there is a pub, where they give a lot of tasks to complete. You don't have to lift a finger - just wait a few days and the characters will return with money, XP, JP and trophies. The advantages of this method - you do not have to enter the battle to level up inconvenient work in combat, you can get rare items and interesting trophies. Cons - only hired characters can go to work part-time, those who join you in the story do not have such a right. In addition, for the duration of the mission, the departed fighters will not be able to fight you until they finish or you recall them. So, most likely you will have to try all the works anyway.

I also liked how the crossovers with different parts of Final Fantasy are interspersed in the game unobtrusively. When you hire out your fighters (see above), sometimes as a reward you can get a rare treasure or discover a hitherto unknown place. I wonder how many people in Russia played the very first FF that came out on the NES? I'm afraid that the number of those is not too large, names like Pandemanium Castle, Kalkobrina and Mysidia Tower will not say anything to people who think that Final Fantasy started with the 6th part. But for the true fans of the series who have not missed a single part (read: like me), these will be very pleasant surprises that evoke nostalgia. Of course, the biggest crossover is the presence of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII in the game. True, to get it you have to suffer.

I want to talk separately about music. She is very good, just wonderful! This makes me especially happy, as a music critic by occupation. A real symphony orchestra, wonderful melodies and, most importantly, everything is designed in its own style, solemn, a little bit ethnic, gothic and classic at the same time! Of course, I'm not saying that absolutely everyone will like the soundtrack of Final Fantasy Tactics - if you like industrial and only industrial, then play the third Tekken. But here the composer is not to blame for anything, it's just a matter of taste.

Final Fantasy Tactics is not a new game, but, nevertheless, even now, in my opinion, it remains one of the best in its genre. It is quite beautiful, complex and diverse, has an interesting intricate plot, marvelous music and a unique system of work. If for some reason you don't like the Final Fantasy series, try to get past the stereotypes and think of Final Fantasy Tactics as just a very good game.

Agrias Birthday
To unlock this short secret scene, you will have to visit any city in Ivalice on the first of the month of Cancer (following Gemini, 32). You will also need 50,000 gil in the team's treasury to view the cutscene. This money will be spent on a gift - an accessory for Agria.

Secret spells
Ultima
This is a highly secret and very powerful spell that only Ramza can learn - and only with the Squire profession. Actually, Ramza must have this profession, get hit by Ultima and survive it (which is quite problematic). Ultima in the game is wielded by the enemies Ultima Demon (found in battles in Limberry Castle and Murond) and the charming companions of Marquis Elmdor - assassins Celia and Lede (on the roof of Riovanes Castle and in two battles in Limberry Castle). True, it is rather difficult to wait for Ultima from demons - they use it only on weakened and wounded characters.

Zodiac
Everything is similar. Zodiac (aka Zodiark) is the most powerful summonable spirit in the game. You can learn it only in one place: in the battle on the last Deep Dungeon map - THE END (in WOTL - Terminus). It is owned by the Deep Dungeon boss, the mage Elidibis. Any calling magician (summoner) can learn the Zodiac, you just need to get hit by the Zodiac and survive. And this is inhumanly difficult, because the Zodiac deals about 800 HP of damage. Fortunately, in FFT there is such a characteristic of a fighter as Faith. In such cases, this is especially important: a fighter with low Faith is no magician, but enemy magic has practically no effect on him (he simply does not believe in it). Your task is to lower this parameter for the calling magician (or several) from the very beginning of the battle, using, for example, the skill of the Golden Mouth (Mediator) Solution or the knight Mind Break. A fighter with Faith below 30 is no longer afraid of any Zodiacs.

Secret Characters
Cloud Strife
Yes, this is the same Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. This character will be able to fight for you if a number of the following conditions are met:

1. To get Cloud, you must get three other secret characters (see below) and after the battle with Dycedarg in Igros Castle.
2. Go to the Goug location, from where to Zarghidas Trade City.
3. In the city, the flower girl Aeris from the same Final Fantasy VII will approach you and offer to buy a flower from her. Take a flower.
4. Go back to Goug.
5. The time machine suddenly activates and Cloud appears, teleported from his home world. But now Cloud will not join you, but will go to Zarghidas.
6. Follow Cloud, you'll soon have an easy fight. 7. If you win the battle - Cloud will join your team.

But Cloud doesn't have a weapon! His weapon (Materia Blade) is located in the Bervenia Volcano location (Mount Bervenia in the "War of the Lions"). After equipping Cloud with the Move-Find item ability, take him to the highest point of the location. There, Cloud will find the blade he needs. Now Cloud has learned to use his Limits.

Beowulf, Reis, Worker-8 (Construction 8)

All three of these secret characters are obtained in the course of completing one extensive subquest. Now more about the quest:
First go to Goug (you should be in the fourth chapter of the story walkthrough, having accepted Mustadio Bunanza earlier in the party). There will begin a video in which they will show the new invention of Besrodio. It will have a symbol of one of the Zodiac stones, which you will have to search for. Go to Goland.

In Goland, look through all the rumors (Rumors), then go to Lesalia. There, in the bar, you will learn about the gathering of fighters to suppress resistance in Goland. Ramza, of course, will agree to help and Boewulf will join us.

Having reached Goland "and four battles with strong opponents await you. More about each of them:

Colliery Underground: Third Floor
The easiest of the upcoming fights. Here four Chemists will fight with you, each of which is armed with a Mithril Gun. Try to stay close to them, because in close combat they are harmless. Try to focus on one enemy, otherwise others will be able to heal him or even resurrect him using X-Potion or Phoenix Down.

Colliery Underground: Second Floor
This fight is more serious. Here you are confronted by Herbalists armed with Blaze Guns, thieves, Behemoths and the Behemoth King, who should be especially wary. Use your best to keep the Behemoths away, as they are devastating in close combat.

Colliery Underground: First Floor
This fight might even be easier than the previous one. Here you are confronted by two Herbalists with ordinary Mithril guns, Uribo (you shouldn’t be afraid of him at all;)) and Blue Dragon (and two of them! Beware of them!). First of all, cut down either dragons or herbalists. Leave Uribo for dessert;)

Last Stand: Underground Passage
Your goal is to rescue the Holy Dragon Reis, after which she will join your party. Don't be too scared to see her surrounded - she can quite stand up for herself. Beware of the Eyes, they have a high chance of placing Doom or Sleep on your heroes. Reis will take care of the rest.

The series of fights is over, Reis has joined your party in the form of a dragon. Now head back to Goug, where the Zodiac Stone obtained from Beowulf will revive Worker-8 (or Construction-8 in WOTL), who will join your party too. Please note - he is a very valuable unit, although he cannot use magic.

Now go to Zeltennia Fortress where you can read the latest rumors in the tavern. You will open a new location on the map - Nelveska Temple. Go to the place where the fight is not easy.

So the hard part of the fight is having two Hyudras sitting on two pillars. Killing them will make the fight much easier, but on the other hand, you can focus on your main opponent - Worker-7. What to choose - decide for yourself. The robot itself is immune to all kinds of magic - don't waste your precious moves on it. But keep in mind that when you have already removed all the lives from the unlucky robot, he will say a couple of slurred sentences and continue the battle with one HP. Get him faster! And I also want to note that there are valuable items on the pillars - a silver Javelin or Escutcheon can be caught there. But even a ninja is not able to jump up to the pillars - substitute a monster (if any) or Reis to it (the pillar), after which your fighters will be able to get there by climbing on the back of the dragon. To find items, equip the Move-Find-Item (Treasure Hunter) ability.

Balthier Bunanza
This character is only available in Final Fantasy Tactics The War of the Lions. To get it you will need:

1. Travel to Magic City of Gariland. Go to the tavern there and read the Rumor Rash of "Thefts".
2. Now go to Dorter Trade City. There, also go to the tavern and read the new rumor - A Call for Guards.
3. Try to leave Dorter, but they won't let you - after the cutscene, the battle will begin. Baltir himself will help you in it, but he will be a Guest (Guest status). Here are its characteristics:

ProfessionCapabilitiesEquipment
sky piratePiracy
move +1
Ras Alhethi Gun
Mirage Vest

After winning this not very difficult battle, he will finally join you. This is a very valuable character, thanks to his cannon (shoots at one and a half hundred) and his ability "Piracy" (Piracy) - a mixture of the abilities of Mustadio and the usual thief, only Plunder - theft with a higher chance of success.

Secret Hunt
Below is full list all ordinary monsters of the game. To use this feature of the game, you will have to learn the corresponding ability in the Thief profession and, after activating it, deliver a finishing blow to the target. The enemy will disappear. After the end of the battle, you have to go to the nearest city, where you can sell the carcass of the killed monster.

Items highlighted in bold obtained only by passing the corresponding hunt.

Locations in italics are Deep Dungeon levels.

Multiplayer (Cooperative game, Multiplayer)
This is a feature of Final Fantasy Tactics The War of the Lions (on the PSP) that was not present on the Playstation 1 version. This mode is extremely good in that you do not lose absolutely anything in it, but you can steal items from opponents or recruit them into your team. In this mode, you will have a series of very difficult fights. Let's start with the description:

Fight One: Chocobo Defense
This is the easiest mission of the upcoming ones is difficult only to defend the right two birds. It is better to put Protect on them at the beginning of the fight and guard them, healing from time to time (they can also heal themselves, Choco Cure). We deal with enemies.

Fight Two: Chicken Race
It's not a hard fight either. This time you will fight in the swamp with the undead. Be sure to take Herbalists (Chemist) and Mustadio to the team (if you got it, then Baltir is better). The former will be able to kill the undead by throwing Phoenix Down at them, while the latter will be able to turn the undead to stone using their signature Seal Evil ability.

Fight Three: Treasure Hunter
The goal is to get the treasure, so you will really need the Teleport ability. With its help, you can overtake the desired chest in just a couple of moves. It is not necessary to destroy enemies at all.

Fight Four: Teioh
Pretty tough fight that many chocobs make difficult. First, exterminate all ordinary opponents - the boss (black chocobo) will be significantly weakened. Focus the whole team on him - he will regenerate soon, despite his three and a half thousand HP.

Fight Five: Lost Heirloom
Only two warriors can be put on this task. Take maneuver warriors, it would be nice to have someone with a long-range weapon capable of fighting back a couple of enemy archers standing on the roof. Baltir or Construction-7 with its Dispose fit this role.

Fight Six: The Fete
This surprisingly easy fight consists of beating up a few monks and knights, supported by the Bard and the Dancer. After killing the knights and monks, you can consider that the mission is completed.

Battle Seven: Desert Minefield
Now your goal is to save the Herbalist, who will join your team as a guest. Numerous bombs will confront you, the strongest of which are black ones. It is worth starting with them. Just keep in mind one thing: if the bomb has critical HP, but it survives, a very nasty Self Destruct attack cannot be avoided.

Fight Eight: Littering
Wow! As many as ten Ninjas oppose you in this battle! This is already a serious fight. It is better not to meddle in close combat - the outcome will not be in your favor. It's good to bring Sid forward and hit them with his techniques, healing him after each move and covering him from behind with shooting fighters.

Fight Nine: Shades of the Past
In this battle, we are confronted by the already familiar Milyuda. The real difficulty in combat is given by archers - remove them first. Miluda has unique armor, but it cannot be stolen or broken. With her help, she can resurrect once, so be prepared for this.

Battle Ten: The Knights Templar
Very difficult, I warn you. Here you will find four fights without a break and the opportunity to even recover. The first battles, although difficult, are not as much like the last one, where you will need to fight against Wormava. His strength is very high, beware of him!

Fight Eleven: All Star Melee
All opponents are key characters from the story (there are nine in total and even Ramza is in their ranks). The first step is to knock out the opponent's Orlando, using your own with support. Focus on one enemy and destroy them one by one. The fight is not as hard as it seems.

After you complete the game, a few more truly nightmarish battles will become available to you. Let's start with the description:

Battle 12: The Guarded Temple
You are confronted by two robots, each of which has seven thousand HP. Sounds intimidating, but it's not all bad. It's even worse - they also have immunity to all types of magic. Your only advantage is speed - use it against two rather slow robots.

Battle 13: Nightmares
Familiar faces (Muzzles?), right? ;) In this fight, you will face all Marv (Lucavi) from the game with the support of five demons. This is truly a nightmare. For this fight, you will need a level, like, eighty, or even more. If you haven't reached it yet - swing! And first of all, you should deal with Cuchulainn - Sleep and Doom on your characters will not help you at all. Good luck!

Fight Fourteen: Brave Story
Almost all opponents of the game will oppose you for ten battles, after each of which the characters will not be healed or resurrected. Learn it! At the tenth battle, a surprise awaits you - you will be given weak opponents (a thousand plus HP).

Fight fifteen: An Ill Wind
Hurry up, equip your Ribbon or Berette! Otherwise, the dark knights will suck all the juice out of your heroes with their vampirism (literally). Get ready for the toughest fight. Oh yes. The highlight of this battle is that you will control only one character;)

What's new in the War of the Lions?

In FFT: WOTL, the technical part has slightly improved, mainly it concerns cel-shading (otherwise, anime characters in 3d are not very good) videos on the engine, new professions: Onion Knight and Dark Knight. In addition, the main storyline has been improved to be more understandable for gaijins, the names of some spells and skills have been changed, and some dialogues have been changed. The essence of the dialogues in the game remained unchanged, but their presentation has changed places.

Dark Knight

The dark knight is a hybrid of a knight and a dark mage, he is the strongest class in the game and has a full set of magical sword techniques.

He also has incredibly strong AOE attacks. To become a Dark Knight, you have to Very try hard. To access this class, you have to run All the requirements below:

  • 1. Fully upgrade to Master level professions "Knight" (Knight) and "Black Mage" (Black Mage).
  • 2. Upgrade the Dragoon, Geomancer, Ninja, Samurai classes to the 8th level of the profession. Yes, it is possible to upgrade the Geomancer class to the Master level without reaching profession level 8, but this is a prerequisite for unlocking the Dark Knight class!
  • 3. Kill 20 enemies with the character you plan to make the "Dark Knight". But not just kill, but turn into chests or crystals! It does not matter here whether you take these chests or crystals or not - the most important thing is that the enemies turn into them.

We wish everyone good luck in pumping this class. He is really very strong.

Onion Knight

In Final Fantasy Tactics: the War of the Lions, the Onion Knight class may seem weak at first glance, and indeed is one of the most controversial classes in the game, but with the right and long leveling, it becomes a killing machine in the later stages, despite the fact that it completely lacks any special class skill.

Men in this class can wear both men's and women's items of equipment!

In addition, he can wear unique items designed specifically for this class and with very high stats (however, these items can only be obtained in multiplayer mode, which, unfortunately, has not been ported to iOS).

To open this class, you will have to work much less than to get the Dark Knight class: it is enough to upgrade the Chemist and Squire classes to profession level 6.

The plot of the game Final Fantasy Tactics: the War of the Lions

The games in the Final Fantasy series have previously been distinguished by deep storytelling. The story for Final Fantasy Tactics was written by Yasumi Matsuno, a legendary author who won awards for the best stories even in traditionally skeptical Japan. We owe much of the FFT plot to him.

Only recently have the battles of the fifty-year war between the kingdoms of Ivalice and Ordalia died down. The action takes place in Ivalice, a kingdom forced to recover from the consequences of the war. The king died, leaving a war-ravaged land and a kingdom torn apart by power-hungry nobles. In this setting, two factions form: the White Princesses of Goltana and the Black Lions of Prince Larg.

Not having time to recover from the war with Ordalia, a civil war unfolds in Ivalice. The storyteller Arazlam tells us about the hero Ramza, who played the main role in this conflict, but whose mention in official historical documents has never been officially registered.

One of the cornerstones of the game is the army of the Zodiac (Zodiac Braves), in the game mythology there is a legend of twelve warriors who drove out the demons of Lukavi with the help of sacred stones. In the kingdom of Ivalice, they are a living legend. In the game itself, there are special sets of weapons and zodiac skills.

It seems that the events of Ivalice are not fiction, but took place in reality, which is generally relatively true, because what is the “War of the Lions” if not the War of the Scarlet and White Roses in England rethought in fantasy? To feel the essence, you need to play it (well, and have a bit of imagination).

Gameplay

The passage of the game according to the plot, not much being distracted by leveling the Dark Knight classes and off-plot quests, takes about 25 hours of game time. If you pass it 100%, then it can take up to 50-60 hours. However, the game has a high replay value.

Describing the gameplay atmosphere of Final Fantasy Tactics: the War of the Lions in a small column of text is difficult. Starting from music from the unique master Hitoshi Sakimoto to detailed dialogues and a plot in which there is a place for love, and betrayal, and drama - it will make all fans of good RPGs "forget" for a long time.

And after passing, as it usually happens, there remains “that same feeling” when “it’s a pity that it’s all over” and you want to continue. By the way, you can meet characters from Final Fantasy 7 in the game! You can take Cloud (Cloud Strife) into the team, there are also mentions of Sephiroth (Sephiroth), Aeris (Aerith) and others - which, of course, will please all connoisseurs of the series. In FFT: WOTL, the gameplay is more complicated than the usual common screen of other FF games. This only had a positive effect on the interest of the game, it is much more interesting to play strategic turn-by-turn etudes (if you have a good relationship with this genre).

Despite the step-by-step approach, the sequence of moves is determined by CP (Charge Point), the number of which depends on the character's speed indicator, nimble and evasive characters go more often than clumsy "tin cans". The player's level is pumped in the standard way: by completing quests and participating in battles, while skills are learned by buying them for JP (profession points), later we will be able to open more prestigious professions or meet characters, including non-plot ones (optional, as they are called in English). gamers) with unique classes.

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the games in the series that uses the principle of professions, in fact they are the same classes, with the difference that they can be changed and combined in combinations convenient for the player. The game will delight with a lot of side quests, random encounters, non-standard bosses and even some kind of crafting analogue, as we exchange loot from carcasses for useful things in the fur shop (Fur Shop). The game has a lot of lovingly made secondary characters that sunk into the soul of the players.

The step-by-step system does not create inconvenience for IOS owners, although the multiplayer did not survive porting and this is somewhat offensive. The game is quite ruthless and demanding on the player's ability to follow the squad, if the character received huge damage and was not healed in a few moves, you will lose him forever.

Graphic arts

Now, of course, we are used to the fact that graphics have a pixel-perfect format and must be modern in every respect. But this, friends, is another point - the graphics will really please those who played this wonderful game on the Playstation in their childhood or youth, because the picture is a little better in the iOS version.

Nostalgia, in a word, must-have for everyone, even taking into account the cost of 1090 rubles. in the Apple Store. Apart from Final Fantasy fans, for whom I would certainly highly recommend playing Final Fantasy Tactics: the War of the Lions, I would also recommend this game to all fans of turn-based strategy and fans of the RPG genre in general, including even those who do not like the anime style. .

This game was not in vain reanimated, because such a masterpiece should never become obsolete.

Final Fantasy Tactics (FFT), while based on the Final Fantasy universe and using many elements of the combat systems of previous games in the series, is nonetheless quite unlike Final Fantasy VII or any other Square game. If in normal battles “only” are an integral part of the gameplay, then in FFT, in fact, the whole game consists of them. As a result, the role-playing part turns into an auxiliary line, saturating the strategic side of the game to the limit. In this article, I will try to give all the necessary advice regarding FFT, as well as talk about tactics in all battles (of which there are about 70 in the game). Of course, with all the secret places, items and the most detailed description of the characteristics of the classes of heroes. Let's start with tips.

Before the start of each battle (except the very first one), you can choose for it on a special screen, in which on a small island of land (repeating the upcoming battlefield according to the landscape pattern) you can place some of your troops. As you place the heroes before the battle, in the same formation they will be on the battlefield.

In everything, however, there is some risk, since your hero may miss, hit too weakly, it is also possible that the enemy is immune to certain types of spells or attacks.

Charge Time (CT) is the time it takes for a hero to generate a spell or perform an action. Weak magic does not require a long time to cast, while complex and highly destructive spells require a long time to prepare. In the process of “maturation” of STs, the rest of the heroes in the order of the “general queue” can act quite calmly. All this adds another dimension to combat tactics. If, for example, an enemy mage began to synthesize the Fire3 spell, then your heroes will still have enough time to beat the insolent with weaker and faster tricks.

If the main character Ramza dies, then, accordingly, the game ends. You can treat your own in three different ways. The first is Ramza Wish's special skill, which allows you to transfer some of the health from the caster of the spell to the character it is directed at. In this case, a 100% gain is formed, and the one who takes the spell receives twice as much health as the one who synthesized the spell loses. Further, this is the standard Cure magic, which in FFT can simultaneously affect characters that are in the area of the spell, as well as special Potions available to chemists (Chemists).

Poison - Slowly reduces health. Can be cured with Antidote, Remedy or spells.
Sleep - The character falls asleep and does not respond to commands. Healed by Remedy, using magic or any attack.
Silence - The character cannot use magic. Heals with Echo Grass, Remedy or magic.
Darkness - Decreases the percentage of successful hits. Treated with Eye Drop, Remedy or magic.
Confusion - Causes the character to move and act randomly, use magic and attack friends and foes. It is treated with Remedy, magic or physical influence.
Charm - The hero attacks his own. It is treated with physical influence.
Berserk - The character attacks the hero closest to him and does not respond to control. Heals with magic.
Death Sentence - The character dies within three turns. Not treated.
Don't Move - The character cannot move (but can act). Heals with magic.
Don't Act - The character cannot take any action (can only move). Heals with magic.
Petrify - The hero turns to stone. Treated with Soft, Remedy or magic. In the event that all of your units are turned to stone, the game ends.
Oil - The hero is doused with oil, which makes him very sensitive to fire attacks. Healed by Remedy or fire attack (hunchbacked grave will fix).
Toad - Only one class of Toad Black Magic can be used. Heals with Maiden's Kiss, Remedy or magic.
Chicken - The character turns into a chicken and cannot participate in battle. Heals with magic. If the curse is not removed at the end of the battle, then there is a high probability that the hero will leave your team.
Undead - The hero is injured by attempting to use items or magic that restore health. Heals Holy Water.
Cannot Fight - Health is 0. Healed by Phoenix Down or magic. May cause death.
